Very Reverend Salvatore Pignato
Fr. Sal Pignato is the Administrator for St. Basil Byzantine Catholic Church in Miami, Pastor of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Orlando, Florida and Administrator of Holy Dormition Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, Florida. He is also the Dean of the Southern Syncellate of Florida.
Fr. Sal holds Doctoral Degrees in counseling theory and technique, testing, advanced certificates in counseling theory and technique. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Certified Addictions Professional for the State of Florida. (CAP)
In his fifty-four years of priesthood, Fr. Sal has had may ministries. In his early years he taught in minor seminaries, he worked in campus ministry, in hospitals as a hospital chaplain, and as a campus minister. Fr. Sal was a counselor at the Martin Luther Center for Chemical Dependency in Niles, Illinois. He was Chairman of the Pastoral Care Department of Washington Theological Union in Silver Spring, Maryland teaching pastoral care, counseling theory and technique, was adjunct professor at Holy Trinity College in Washington, D.C., was adjunct professor at the University of Richmond, Virginia and adjunct professor at Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida in the Department of Experimental Psychology. Fr. Sal was Director of the adult in-patient program for chemical dependency for Psychiatric Institute in Washington D.C. and Director of the chemical dependency Units for adolescence, adult, long term treatment and half-way house for MACO in Orlando Florida. He was also a consultant for Turning Pont of Central Florida, an out-patient treatment program for chemical dependency.
